Zodiac Sign Shift

What the heck? That's exactly the reaction I had when I heard about this. Apparently astronomers have been ignoring a 19-day period in which the sun enters a new constellation path, or whatever. The Earth's axis wobble caused the astrological positions calculated 2,000 years to no longer apply. The stars in the night sky have shifted so much that, it has set the horoscope signs nearly 1 month off. This news of a new zodiac sign is old news, VERY old news. The Babylonians recognized the constellation Ophuichus. However, they didn't want 13 signs, they only wanted 12, so they just got rid of the 19-day period of Ophuichus.

Here's what astronomers know: The Earth is like a wobbly top. As it rotates, its axis moves in a circle, aligning in different directions. As the Earth's position shifts, so does our view of the night sky. For example, astronomers have figured out that when the Great Pyramids of Egypt were built, the North Star was not aligned with our North Pole. A star named Thuban in the constellation Draco. In another 12,000 years apparently the new Polaris (North Star) is going to be a the brightest star in the constellation Lyra named Vega.

Interviews with different astronomers have all said that the perspective of the night sky we have is completely crazy. One even said "Everything in the sky is a flux." Besides, they're stars and alignments. How on Earth will that ever affect our daily lives?! While it may be fun to peek into how your day will be by reading you horoscope, remember that this whole system is corrupt. So Geminis, how do like being Taurus' now? Or Leos, you're now Cancers. Here's the full list of new zodiac signs:

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

I can tell you right now, that I will ALWAYS be a Libra at heart, never a Virgo. How about you? Do you like your new sign, or did yours not change?
